Subject: Meridium Conference 2010 attendance proposal
I would like to request approval to attend Meridium Conference 2010 on April 14-16 in St. Petersburg, FL, USA. Last year, the Meridium Conference attracted more than 250 attendees from 30+ global companies. This year, the event will feature multiple free pre-conference workshops, client-presented case studies, a product demonstration theater and other sessions designed to educate and inform on best practices around the management of production assets. The sessions will be user-, business-, and industry-oriented and directly applicable to my work on the Meridium project.
The conference will focus on realizing and accelerating the value of a Meridium implementation and effectively managing equipment risk. The Meridium Conference agenda includes sessions on business level issues, in-depth technical training sessions and demonstrations of the latest innovative solutions to improve our work processes and overall business efficiency.
New this year, the event also features multiple pre-conference free workshops and training on a variety of topics, as well as opportunities for a free basic assessment of our APM initiative, maturity and opportunities, AND free one-hour consulting meetings with Meridium subject matter experts and consultants. Meridium will also offer the opportunity to become CMRP-certified at the conference. Meridium Conference 2010 provides networking opportunities with my industry peers - a great opportunity for me to gain first-hand insights from others in our business as well as industry experts in attendance.
I am seeking our company’s approval for the registration fee and travel expenses. Most industry conference registrations are more than twice the Meridium Conference fee, so this event is an incredible value considering the comprehensive array of sessions, in addition to the free options mentioned above.
Here is an approximate breakdown of conference costs:
| Airfare: | < add flight expenses > |
| Transportation: | Estimated $45 taxi ride one-way to or from airport |
| Hotel: | $567 plus taxes for 3 nights ($189 per night) |
| Meals: | Included in conference registration fee |
| Educational Seminar Fee: | Pre-conference workshops are free |
| Conference Fee: | $795 until Jan 31, 2010. (Cost goes up to $895 on Feb. 1) |
The total cost based on the numbers above is
Meridium Conference 2010 is the ideal opportunity for me to make valuable contacts with others in our industry and to strengthen my skill set. Attendance at this conference can be considered part of our company’s investment in the reliability, safety, and risk management of our people, the environment, and our production assets.
I will provide a report following the conference to my colleagues, along with access to the presentations and information shared at the event.
Thank you for your consideration.
